ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Alaska Aces announced that the team has agreed to terms with rookie forward Ridge Garbutt and rookie defenseman Mike Slowikowski.
Garbutt, 23, skated in 78 career games for Utica College over the course of four seasons with 68 points (29g-39a). He led the Pioneers with 12 goals, was second with 24 points in 25 games and led the country with four shorthanded goals as a senior in 2013-14. The 5-foot-10, 180 pound forward tied for second on the team with a career high 27 points (10g-17a) in 28 games as a junior.
Slowikowski, 25, suited up in 102 games for Utica College in his career and had 52 points (15g-27a) and 65 penalty minutes. He skated in 25 games last season as a senior with five assists while helping the Pioneers rank 18th in the nation with a 2.41 goals per game average. The 6-foot-6, 231 pound defenseman was an honorable mention selection to the ECAC West All-Conference Team in each of his last three seasons and led Pioneers defensemen in goals (7) as a junior in 2012-13. That season, he teamed with Garbutt to help guide Utica to the NCAA Tournament and the duo helped produce back-to-back regular season conference titles in their last two seasons.
