Aces Sign Gaucher, Mass

ANCHORAGE – The Alaska Aces announced that they have signed veteran defenseman Ryan Gaucher and defenseman Louis Mass.

The Aces acquired the 27-year-old Gaucher from Las Vegas on March 22 in exchange for forward Jordan Cameron and future considerations, which became left wing Charles Linglet. The 6-foot and 195-pound Gaucher had five assists in five regular season games and 10 points (3g-7a) in 15 Kelly Cup Playoff games as the Aces lost in Game 7 of the conference finals.

In 2002-03 with Cincinnati in the ECHL, Gaucher was selected to the 2003 ECHL All-Star Game and named First Team All-ECHL in 2002-03 after scoring 65 points (19g-46a) in 54 regular season games and nine points (2g-7a) in 11 Kelly Cup Playoff games as the Cyclones lost in Game 7 of the conference finals.

The 6-foot-3 and 215-pound Mass, who played hockey at Dimond High School in Anchorage, had career highs with 14 assists and 15 points in 62 regular season games and scored his first playoff goal for the Aces in 2004-05.
