Aces Sign Paddon, Shasby

ANCHORAGE – The Alaska Aces announced that they have signed defensemen Kelly Paddon and Matt Shasby (pictured), who grew up in Eagle River, Alaska.

In 2004-05, the 25-year-old Shasby played 11 games in the American Hockey League with Hamilton before joining Long Beach of the ECHL where he had 22 points (4g-18a) and 52 penalty minutes in 40 regular season games while also playing four games for the Ice Dogs in the Kelly Cup Playoffs. Selected in the fifth round (150th overall) by Montreal in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, Shasby began his professional career with Columbus in the ECHL scoring 28 points (8g-20a) in 66 games.

The 25-year-old Paddon scored 20 points (3g-17a) in 21 games to help lead Belleville to the semifinals of the Memorial Cup in 1999.
