Aces welcome back Molle, Bennett


ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The
Alaska Aces have agreed to terms with defenseman Dustin Molle and left wing Spencer Bennett for the 2013-14 season, Aces head coach Rob Murray announced.

The Aces are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Calgary Flames and the American Hockey League's Abbotsford Heat.

Molle, 27, set ECHL career-highs in games played (55), plus-minus (+9) and penalty minutes (141) while contributing five assists in his first season with the Aces in 2012-13. He has skated in 73 career ECHL games with Alaska and Idaho, earning seven points (1g-6a), 147 penalty minutes and a +2 rating.

The 6-foot-2, 212-pound blueliner previously spent parts of two seasons (2010-12) in the Central Hockey League with the Fort Wayne Komets, earning a +15 rating and 11 points in 59 career games. Before turning pro, Molle skated in 111 career games with the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and notched 10 points and 99 penalty minutes for the Nanooks.

Bennett, 22, tallied 14 points (8g-6a) and a +8 rating in 22 games with the Aces last season and also suited up in five Kelly Cup Playoff games. He was acquired by the Aces on Jan. 27 from the Orlando Solar Bears and has 17 points and a +3 rating in 29 ECHL games with Alaska, Orlando and Gwinnett.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound forward has collected two goals and one assist in 11 career American Hockey League games with Abbotsford and the Portland Pirates. He also attended NHL training camps with the Flames and Phoenix Coyotes.
