Aces Win West, Minard Scores 48th Goal

LAS VEGAS – Peter Aubry made 42 saves and Chris Minard scored his league-leading 48th goal as Alaska clinched the West Division with a 3-2 win over Las Vegas in front of 3,829 fans at Orleans Arena on Tuesday.

The win improved the Aces to 44-18-8 and 96 points and they can clinch the National Conference with a victory in their remaining two games at Las Vegas on Friday and Saturday. The Aces will have home ice for the West Division Semifinals and the West Division Finals of the Kelly Cup Playoffs while a conference title would give the Aces home ice for the National Conference Finals.

Alaska, one of seven expansion teams to join the ECHL in 2003-04, has set team records for wins (44), points (96), road wins (22), consecutive wins (6) and consecutive road wins (5) while tying the team record for home wins (22) and consecutive home wins (4).
