MILWAUKEE, Wis. – The Milwaukee Admirals announced that the team will wear a commemorative patch to honor play-by-play broadcaster Kyle Schultz, who passed away on Saturday, on the team’s jersey for the remainder of 2005-06.
Schultz was the play-by-play broadcaster for Tallahassee of the ECHL in 1994-95 and the broadcaster and director of public relations for the Tiger Sharks from 1996-2000 and was the broadcaster and director of public relations for Augusta from 2001-03. He was in his third season as broadcaster for Milwaukee and worked for the Utah Grizzlies in 1995-96.
The patch features the initials KS in the center with “Old Time Hockey”, a phrase often used by Schultz during his broadcast, around the edges.
The patches, which will be worn for the first time on Friday when Milwaukee hosts Houston, will be sold by the team for $5 each with proceeds benefiting Arrowhead Youth Hockey where a memorial has been set up in honor of Schultz.
Fans unable to attend an Admirals game can purchase the patches by telephone with a credit card at (414) 227-0550 or by mail with a check or money order made payable to the Milwaukee Admirals at 1001 N. 4th St., Milwaukee, WI 53203. There will be a $2 charge for postage and handling and orders will take 7-10 days for delivery.
