Alaska Acquires Shields

ANCHORAGE – The Alaska Aces announced that they have acquired forward Colin Shields from the Greenville Grrrowl in exchange for defenseman Ryan Moren, who was traded along with future considerations by Greenville to the Texas Wildcatters in exchange for the rights to right wing John Snowden.

In his first professional season in 2004-05, the 25-year-old Shields, who has already agreed to terms with Alaska, had 35 points (9g-25a) in 62 games while playing for San Diego, Atlantic City and Greenville.

Selected in the sixth round (195th overall) by Philadelphia in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, the 5-foot-11 and 180-pound Shields played three seasons at the University of Maine, scoring 117 points (61g-56a) in 120 games and helping the Black Bears reach the NCAA Finals twice.
