Alaska’s MacMurchy Suspended 10 Games, Fined

PRINCETON, N.J. – The ECHL announced on Wednesday that it has suspended Alaska Aces forward Ryan MacMurchy for 10 games and fined him an undisclosed amount for a blindsided punch to the head of Phoenix RoadRunners defenseman Chris Cava during ECHL Game #611 at Phoenix on Feb. 17.

The incident occurred at 19:09 of the first period. MacMurchy was assessed a major penalty for fighting and a game misconduct as the aggressor under Rule 47.2. The suspension was issued following a hearing conducted via conference call by ECHL Vice President of Hockey Operations Rod Pasma.

�The punch by Mr. MacMurchy was deliberate and from behind. Such actions will not be tolerated in the ECHL,� said Pasma.

MacMurchy will miss Alaska�s games at Phoenix (Feb. 20), at Long Beach (Feb. 23), at Long Beach (Feb. 24), against Bakersfield (Mar. 2), against Bakersfield (Mar. 3), against Bakersfield (Mar. 4), against Long Beach (Mar. 9), against Long Beach (Mar. 10), against Long Beach (Mar. 11) and at Fresno (Mar. 16).
