The two cousins return to Utah for their second seasons with the Grizzlies. Both are natives of Springfield, Mass. and will begin their fourth of five pro seasons playing together. Both players won the Kelly Cup with Branham with Reading in 2013. Almeida played college hockey at Boston College, while Syner played at U-Mass Amherst.
Almeida had 40 points (13g-27a) in 55 games last year before suffering a season ending injury in March. He scored 18 of his 40 points in 2014-15 on the power play and led the Grizzlies in special teams scoring. Almeida has 90 points (38g-52a) in 129 career ECHL games with Reading, Cincinnati and Utah. He has totaled 15 points (7g-8a) in 36 AHL games with Hershey.
Syner had 31 points (15g-16a) in 45 games a year ago and added eight points (2g-6a) in 11 games during the Kelly Cup Playoffs. Syner scored 10 of his 14 goals in the second half of the season in 2014-15. Syner has 94 points (43g-51a) in 117 career ECHL games with Reading and Utah. He has played in 48 AHL games with Hershey totaling 10 points (5g-5a).
