Atlanta Acquires Stepp, Assigns To Gladiators

DULUTH, Ga. – The Gwinnett Gladiators announced that center Joel Stepp has been assigned to the Gladiators by the Atlanta Thrashers of the National Hockey League. The Thrashers acquired Stepp from the Anaheim Mighty Ducks on Wednesday in exchange for goaltender Jani Hurme.

The Gladiators are the ECHL affiliate of the Thrashers of the NHL and the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League.

Selected in the third round (69th overall) by Anaheim in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Stepp has 39 points (13g-26a) and 26 penalty minutes in 38 games with Augusta and three points (2g-1a) and 21 penalty minutes in 17 games with Portland.
