Avalanche Assigns Two To Reading

READING, Pa. – The Reading Royals announced that defenseman Mikko Viitanen and left wing Sergei Klyazmin have been assigned to the team by the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League and that the team has signed Brian Gratz as its emergency backup goaltender.

Selected in the fifth round (149th overall) by Colorado in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, the 22-year-old Viitanen has one assist in 19 games with Hershey of the American Hockey League.

Selected in the third round (92nd overall) by Colorado in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, the 22-year-old Klyazmin has played seven games with Hershey and has also played five games with Colorado in the Central Hockey League, scoring two points (1g-1a).
