Avalanche Retains Laaksonen

DENVER – The Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League announced that it has picked up the option on Antti Laaksonen, who began his professional career in the ECHL with Charlotte in 1997-98.

In his first professional season in 1997-98, Laaksonen scored seven points (4g-3a) in 15 regular season games and three points (0g-3a) in six Kelly Cup Playoff games with Charlotte while also scoring five points (3g-2a) in 38 regular season games with Providence of the American Hockey League.

The 32-year-old had his best professional season in 2005-06, establishing career highs with 18 assists and 34 points while tying his career best with 16 goals.
