Bakersfield's Helfrich named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week
The 24-year-old right wing scored two goals, added five assists and was a +6 last week as the Condors went 2-2-0.
Helfrich tallied a pair of assists in a 3-2 win against Stockton on Monday, starting a stretch of three straight games with multiple points. He had a goal and an assist in a 4-3 loss to Ontario on Wednesday and in a 6-5 loss at Utah on Friday. He ended the week with an assist in a 4-1 against the Grizzlies on Saturday.
A native of Calgary, Alberta, Helfrich has 10 points (2g-8a) in 14 games with the Condors this season after starting the season with Gwinnett where he had eight points (2g-6a) in 12 games.
Helfrich made his pro debut with the Florida Everblades last season, notching one assist in two regular-season games and also seeing action in four Kelly Cup Playoff games. He tallied 106 points (33g-73a) in 135 career collegiate games at R.P.I.
On behalf of Tyler Helfrich, a case of pucks will be donated to a Bakersfield youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 25,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
