Beckett Returns From Grand Rapids To Thunder

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Stockton Thunder announced that veteran defenseman Jason Beckett has returned to the team after being released from his player tryout agreement with the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League and that defenseman Tyler Hanchuck has been released.

Stockton is the ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League.

Signed by Stockton on July 25, Beckett had one goal and two penalty minutes in four games with Grand Rapids.

Selected in the second round (42nd overall) by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 1998 National Hockey League Entry Draft, the 6-foot-3 and 218-pound Beckett had 27 points (10g-17a) and 140 penalty minutes in 64 games while helping Pensacola win the Brabham Cup with a league-leading 107 points in 2004-05.
