Boise, ID – Idaho Steelheads head coach and director of hockey operations Hardy Sauter announced Thursday that the team has signed defenseman Mike Berube and forward Brandon Campose for the 2010-11 season.
The Steelheads are the ECHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League and the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League.
Berube, 22, played in 66 games last season with the ECHL’s Charlotte Checkers, totaling 11 points (3 goals, 8 assists) and 97 penalty minutes. He also skated in four contests with the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack. Prior to that, the 6-foot-1 Edmonton native spent five seasons of major junior hockey in the WHL with Prince George, Red Deer, and Vancouver.
Campose, also 22, has spent the past two seasons playing at the University of British Columbia after spending the previous two seasons with the WHL’s Everett Silvertips and Chilliwack Bruins. His best season came in 2007-2008, when he scored 70 points (25 goals, 45 assists) in 67 games with Chilliwack.
