Blue Jackets Re-Sign Sugden

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Columbus Blue Jackets announced that they have re-signed right wing Brandon Sugden, who began his professional career in the ECHL. The Dayton Bombers are the ECHL affiliate of the Blue Jackets and Syracuse of the American Hockey League.

In his first professional season in 1998-99, the 6-4 and 225-pound Sugden had 233 penalty minutes and one assist in 44 regular season games and 17 penalty minutes in one Kelly Cup Playoff game with Dayton and 51 penalty minutes and two assists in six games with Cincinnati of the International Hockey League.

In 2004-05 with Syracuse, the 27-year-old Sugden had 252 penalty minutes and one goal in 45 games.

Selected in the fifth round (111th overall) by Toronto in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, Sugden played in the ECHL with Dayton, Tallahassee and Peoria, registering 418 penalty minutes and three points (1g-2a) in 70 regular season games and 17 penalty minutes in one Kelly Cup Playoff game.
