Bombers’ Ayers Signs With Syracuse of AHL

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League announced that they have signed Dayton Bombers goaltender Mike Ayers.

The 25-year-old Ayers is 3-1-0 with a goals-against average of 1.80 and a save percentage of .943 in four games with Syracuse and 3-3-0 with a goals-against average of 3.49 and a save percentage of .889 in six games with Dayton.

Selected in the sixth round (177th overall) by Chicago in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, the 25-year-old Ayers had a goals-against average of 2.90 and a save percentage of .913 in 51 games with the Bombers in his first professional season in 2004-05. He was called up to the American Hockey League twice, going 1-0-1 with a goals-against average of 1.45 and a save percentage of .952 in two games with Cincinnati while also playing one game for Grand Rapids.
