PRINCETON, N.J. – Terry Denike of the Dayton Bombers is the Rbk Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Mar. 19-25, 2007. Denike won the award for Feb. 26-Mar. 4 and becomes the fifth two-time winner this season, joining Mike McKenna of Las Vegas, Cedrick Desjardins of Cincinnati, Jamie Hodson of Bakersfield and Derek Gustafson of Alaska.
The 25-year-old Denike was 4-0-1 with a 1.57 goals-against average and a save percentage of .940 to help the Bombers move into first place in the North Division with 77 points (35-22-7) and clinch their first Kelly Cup Playoffs berth since 2002.
The 6-foot-2 and 190-pound Denike stopped 21 of 23 shots he faced on Mar. 20 in a 3-2 win against Toledo and was back on the ice just over 12 hours later for a 10:30 a.m. game at Toledo where he had 31 saves in a 5-1 win. He stopped 20 shots in a 4-1 win against Johnstown on Mar. 23 before losing 3-2 in a shootout against Johnstown on Mar. 24 despite making 24 saves in regulation and overtime and stopping five of six shooters in the shootout. He ended the week on a high note stopping 30 of 32 shots in a 3-2 win at Johnstown to help the Bombers advance to the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
