Bombers Sign Rypien, Broderick

DAYTON, Ohio – The Dayton Bombers announced that they have signed left wing Wes Rypien and emergency backup goaltender Sean Broderick.

Rypien, who will celebrate his 23rd birthday on Saturday, played his first full professional season in 2004-05, finishing with three points (2g-1a) and 165 penalty minutes in 34 games with San Diego, Bakersfield and Fresno.

He played three seasons in the Western Hockey League from 1999-2003 with Spokane and Calgary and had eight points (2g-6a) and 301 penalty minutes in 69 regular season games and 31 penalty minutes in five playoff games. The 6-foot-2 and 190-pound Rypien played in the Ontario Hockey League for Mississauga in 2002-03 and had four points (1g-3a) and 150 penalty minutes in 29 regular season games.
