Bridgeport Signs Thompson

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League announced that they hae signed right wing Chris Thompson, who has played in the ECHL each of the past seven seasons.

Former Charlotte assistant coach David Baseggio is the head coach of the Sound Tigers and former Wheeling coach Pat Bingham is an assistant coach.

The 27-year-old was team captain for Louisiana in 2004-05 and had 51 points (19g-32a) and a team-leading 172 penalty minutes in 68 games. The 6-2 and 205-pound Thompson began his professional career in 1998-99 with Augusta and has also played for Dayton, Florida and Greensboro, registering 258 points (104g-154a) and 1,329 penalty minutes in 1,329 regular season ECHL games and 26 points (5g-21a) and 196 penalty minutes in 45 Kelly Cup Playoff games.

He has played in the AHL with Cincinnati, Cleveland and Albany, accumulating 49 penalty minutes in 23 games.
