Canadiens, Aitken Agree On Terms

MONTREAL, Quebec – The Montreal Canadiens announced they have agreed to terms with former Jackson defenseman Johnathan Aitken.

Selected in the first round (eighth overall) by Boston in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, Aitken scored 10 points (1g-9a) in 43 games with Jackson in 2001-02 while also playing in the American Hockey League with Norfolk where he had one assist and 43 penalty minutes in 28 regular season games and two penalty minutes in four playoff games.

In 2004-05 with Manitoba of the AHL, the 27-year-old Aitken had seven points (1g-6a) and 101 penalty minutes in 46 games.

He has played in the National Hockey League with Boston and Chicago registering one assist and 71 penalty minutes in 41 games with the Blackhawks in 2003-04.
