Canadiens Re-Sign Former ECHL Defenseman Archer

MONTREAL, Quebec – The Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League announced that they have re-signed defenseman Andrew Archer, who played in the ECHL as a rookie in 2003-04.

Selected in the seventh round (203rd overall) by the Canadiens in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, the 24 year old had an assist and 19 penalty minutes in six games for Columbus as a rookie in 2003-04 while also playing in the AHL where he had one assist and 23 penalty minutes in 30 games for Hamilton.

The 6-foot-4 and 213-pound defenseman helped Hamilton capture the Calder Cup championship registering three assists and 21 penalty minutes in 19 playoff games after having one assist and 24 penalty minutes in 16 regular season games for the Bulldogs.
