Former Cyclone Stewart



MONTREAL, Quebec – The Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League announced that they have signed former Cincinnati Cyclones left wing Greg Stewart.

The Cyclones are the ECHL affiliate of the Canadiens of the NHL and Hamilton of the American Hockey League.

Selected in the eighth round (246th overall) by Montreal in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, the 23 year old played his entire rookie season in 2006-07 in Cincinnati and had 23 points (8g-15a) and 126 penalty minutes in 62 regular season games. He led the Cyclones in the Kelly Cup Playoffs with 36 penalty minutes and tied for the team lead with five goals while finishing with seven points in 10 games.

Stewart played in 17 of Montreal’s final 25 regular season games and had one assist and 32 penalty minutes in 20 regular season games and appeared in two Stanley Cup Playoff games for the Canadiens. He led Hamilton with 170 penalty minutes and had 17 points (7g-10a) in 51 regular season games and had one goal and nine penalty minutes in two playoff games.
