Capitals Sign Former Stingray Wilson

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League announced that they have signed free agent center Kyle Wilson, who played for the South Carolina Stingrays as a rookie in 2006-07.

The Stingrays are the ECHL affiliate of the Capitals of the NHL and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League.

The 22 year old began the season in the AHL with San Antonio where he had one goal and two penalty minutes in seven games before signing with South Carolina on Nov. 18 where he had five points (3g-2a) and four penalty minutes in five games before being loaned to Hershey. Selected in the ninth round (272nd overall) by the Minnesota Wild in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-foot and 200-pound has 42 points (20g-22a) and 16 penalty minutes in 41 games with Hershey.

He was selected as the CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Mar. 18.
