Carruth named CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week

 

Mac Carruth of the Indy Fuel is the CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Jan. 19-25.

 

Carruth went 3-0-0 with one shutout, a 0.67 goals-against average and a save percentage of .974 last week, helping the Fuel extend their unbeaten streak to eight games (7-0-1).

 

The 22-year-old turned aside all 26 shots he faced in a 1-0 win at Gwinnett on Monday, made 21 saves in a 4-1 victory against Allen on Friday and stopped 27 shots in a 4-1 win over Evansville on Saturday.

 

A native of Jackson, Wyo., Carruth has appeared in 20 games for Indy this season posting a record of 6-9-4 with one shutout, a 2.69 goals-against average and a save percentage of .905. He has also won both of his appearances with Rockford of the American Hockey League this season.

 

Under a National Hockey League contract with the Chicago Blackhawks, Carruth has appeared in 52 career ECHL games with Indy, Florida and Toledo with an overall record of 16-28-3 with three shutouts, a 3.10 goals-against average and a save percentage of .897.

 

Prior to turning pro, he played four seasons with Portland in the Western Hockey League, where in his final season in 2012-13 he went 30-7-2 with seven shutouts, a 2.07 goals-against average and a save percentage of .929.
