COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Blue Jackets announced that they have signed former ECHL defenseman Mathieu Roy.
The Johnstown Chiefs are the ECHL affiliate of the Blue Jackets of the NHL and Syracuse of the American Hockey League.
The 25 year old played in the ECHL as a rookie in 2003-04 and had three points (1g-2a) and 13 penalty minutes in 10 games for Columbus while also playing in the AHL where he had two assists and 46 penalty minutes in 30 games for Toronto.
Selected in the seventh round (215th overall) by Edmonton in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Roy has three points (2g-1a) and 57 penalty minutes in 30 games with the Oilers.
He played in the AHL in 2008-09 and had 17 points (2g-15a) and 120 penalty minutes in 59 games for Springfield.
