BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - There's something to be said for longevity in any profession.
Especially if your chosen profession is performance-based with zero guarantees.
For Andrew Ianiero, his profession is as a minor league hockey player where contracts are day-to-day and lengthy careers few and far between.
But it's worked out pretty well for the 29-year old native of Hamilton, Ontario, as he became just the 28th player in ECHL history to have played in 500 ECHL games when he took the ice for the Condors against Alaska on Jan. 27.
"It's a tribute to a lot of good luck and and being able to play with a lot of great players," Ianiero said of his career. "You have to stay injury-free in this game and luckily I haven't had too many serious injuries. It's just a lot of luck I've been able to play this long."
