KALAMAZOO — Riley Gill’s transition from college to the pros won’t be quite as difficult as it is for many graduating seniors.
The goaltender can live in his same apartment, still attend classes and be ready to graduate with a business degree from Western Michigan University in June after signing an ECHL contract with the Kalamazoo Wings on Tuesday.
Another advantage for the 25-year-old from Northfield, Minn.: Backup goalie Jeremy Duchesne is up with the AHL’s Adirondack Phantoms, which means Gill will be the backup for K-Wings starter Ryan Nie.
