July 24, 2010North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays and Head Coach/Director of Hockey Operations Cail MacLean announced that defenseman Zach Jones has re-signed with the team. In keeping with club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Jones, 23, appeared in 18 games for the Stingrays last season scoring four assists before his rookie campaign came to an end due to injury. Prior to turning pro, the Lisle, IL native skated for four seasons with the University of North Dakota registering 11 points (1g, 10a) and 237 penalty minutes in 168 games.
Jones was also a member of the U.S. National Under-18 team from 2003-2005 netting two goals and eight assists for ten points in 50 games and skated alongside current NHL'ers Patrick Kane, Phil Kessel, and Peter Mueller. Jones' brother Matt played 106 games with the Phoenix Coyotes of the NHL.
