ANCHORAGE – The Alaska Aces announced that they will donate more than $10,000 to the Mississippi Sea Wolves organization in a continuing effort to help those affected by Hurricane Katrina which forced the Sea Wolves to request a Voluntary Suspension for the 2005-06 playing season.
The ECHL team, which has already begun its preparations to return for 2006-07, is located in Biloxi which suffered a direct hit from Hurricane Katrina, which is being called the worst natural disaster in the history of the United States. The team’s home arena, the Mississippi Coast Coliseum, suffered extensive flood damage including the team offices and locker rooms as well as ice-making equipment and two Zambonis.
Special jerseys in the Sea Wolves colors worn by the Aces for their game on Saturday were auctioned off following the game and the proceeds are being donated to the Mississippi organization.
