EDMONTON, Alberta - The Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League announced that they have agreed to terms with former Idaho Steelheads defenseman Matt Nickerson.
The Stockton Thunder are the ECHL affiliate of Edmonton of the NHL and Springfield of the American Hockey League.
Selected in the third round (99th overall) by the Dallas Stars in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, the 24 year old had two points (1g-1a) and 73 penalty minutes in 13 games for Idaho as a rookie in 2006-07 while also playing in the AHL where he had three assists and 97 penalty minutes in 40 games for Iowa.
He has played the last two seasons in Finland and Sweden where he had 18 points (6g-12a) and 319 penalty minutes in 84 games.
