DENVER - The Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League announced that they have sigend former ECHL defenseman Brett Skinner.
The Johnstown Chiefs are the ECHL affiliate of the Avalanche of the NHL and Lake Erie of the American Hockey League.
Selected in the third round (68th overall) by Vancouver in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, the 26 year old had four points (1g-3a) and eight penalty minutes in five games with Augusta in 2006-07 while also playing in the AHL where he had 18 points (6g-12a) and 24 penalty minutes in 41 regular season games with Portland and six assists and two penalty minutes in 21 regular season games and three assists and two penalty minutes in five games with Omaha.
Skinner made his NHL debut on Oct. 28, 2008 with the New York Islanders and had four penalty minutes in 11 NHL games. He also played in the AHL in 2008-09 and had 12 points (1g-11a) and 10 penalty minutes in 24 games with Bridgeport and 23 points (3g-20a) and four penalty minutes in 37 games for Chicago.
