South Carolina Stingrays president Darren Abbott has accepted a similar position with the American Hockey League's Manchester Monarchs on Sunday.
The Monarchs, the primary AHL affiliate for the Los Angeles Kings, will make an official announcement during a press conference this afternoon in Manchester, N.H.
Abbott, 40, has been the Stingrays team president since April 2006 when he took over for Taylor Lee.
"The decision to leave the Stingrays to pursue this opportunity was a tough one for my family and me," said Abbott. "I am so proud to have been a part of this great organization through the years. My family and I will always consider ourselves part of the Stingrays family.
