Julien Ellis, Victoria Salmon Kings

PRINCETON, N.J. – Julien Ellis of the Victoria Salmon Kings is the Rbk Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Feb. 12-18, 2007.

The 21-year-old rookie was 3-0-0 with one shutout, a goals-against average of 1.99 and a save percentage of .949. He helped the Salmon Kings improve to 7-3-0 in their last 10 games and 10-5-0 in their last 15 games to move into the final playoff spot in the National Conference and only three points behind seventh place Phoenix.

The native of Sorel, Quebec stopped all 36 shots he faced for his first professional shutout and the first Salmon Kings shutout of the season in a 4-0 win against Stockton on Feb. 14. He stopped 40 shots in a 6-3 win against Stockton on Feb. 16 and the following night made 35 saves in a 4-3 overtime win against Stockton, improving to a perfect 3-0 in overtime games.

The 6-foot and 177-pound Ellis, who was voted to the ECHL All-Star Game but did not play as he was called up to the American Hockey League, is 14-11-0 with a goals-against average of 3.51 and a save percentage of .909 in 25 games. Ellis has played in the AHL with Manitoba where he has a 3.70 goals-against average and a .885 save percentage in six games.

Selected in the sixth round (189th overall) by Vancouver in the 2004 National Hockey Entry Draft and under NHL contract to the Canucks, Ellis played four seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League where he was 88-61-14 with eight shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.88 and a save percentage of .908 in 173 games.

Runners Up: Dominic Vicari, Toledo (2-0-0, 0.50 GAA, .971 save pct.) and Kevin Nastiuk, Las Vegas (2-1-0, 1.94 GAA, .937 save pct).
