Justin Peters of the Florida Everblades is the RBC Financial Group ECHL Saver of the Month for October.
Selected in the second round (38th overall) by Carolina in the 2004 National Hockey League Entry Draft and under NHL contract to the Hurricanes, the 21 year old was 3-0-0 with a 0.97 goals-against average and a save percentage of .971 to help the Everblades open their 10th Anniversary season at 3-1-0.
After opening the season with 25 saves in a 6-1 win against Mississippi on Oct. 19, the 6-foot-1 and 213-pound netminder stopped 27 of 28 shots he faced the following night in a 4-1 against Mississippi. He improved to 3-0-0 on Oct. 27 when he made a career-high 48 saves and stopped three of five shooters in the shootout for a 2-1 win at Texas.
The Blyth, Ontario native appeared in one game for the Everblades as a rookie in 2006-07 while playing the majority of the season in the American Hockey League where he was 10-18-0 with a shutout, a 3.26 goals-against average and a .886 save percentage in 34 regular season games for Albany.
Prior to turning professional Peters was 88-68-19 with eight shutouts, a 2.88 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage in 189 games for the Toronto St. Michael’s Majors and Plymouth Whalers in the Ontario Hockey League.
