Charlotte Agrees To Terms With Third Smith

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Checkers announced that they have agreed to terms with defenseman Kenny Smith.

The Checkers are the ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League and the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League.

Selected in the third round (84th overall) by Edmonton in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-foot-2 and 210-pound Smith had nine assists and 95 penalty minutes in 64 regular season games and 11 penalty minutes in five games in the Kelly Cup Playoffs for Charlotte. He also played in the AHL in 2006-07 appearing in one game for Providence and three games for Hartford.
