Checkers Agree To Terms
With Rookie Rutherford, Leveille

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Checkers announced that they have agreed to terms with rookie forward David Rutherford and forward Michel Leveille.

The Checkers are the ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League and the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League.

The 21-year-old Rutherford helped Spokane capture the 2008 Memorial Cup championship scoring 18 points (9g-9a) in 21 games after having 43 points (22g-21a) in 52 regular season games for the Chiefs.

The 27-year-old Leveille had five points (1g-4a) and four penalty minutes in four games for Columbia as a rookie in 2007-08 while also playing in the AHL where he had 12 points (9g-3a) in 41 regular season games and one goal in 11 playoff games for Toronto.
