CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Checkers announced that that they have agreed to terms with forward Nathan Gillies.
The 24-year-old Gillies will attend training camp with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League where he will join brother, Trevor, who had 277 penalty minutes and two assists in 49 games with Hartford in 2004-05. Trevor Gillies began his professional career in the ECHL with Mississippi and played parts of four seasons in the league, registering 1,025 penalty minutes and 16 points (1g-15a) in 210 regular season games.
Charlotte is the ECHL affiliate of Hartford and the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League.
Nathan Gillies has played in both the American Hockey League and the United Hockey League in each of the past two seasons and has 79 points (44g-35a) and 243 penalty minutes in 151 career professional games.
