Checkers’ “Pink in the Rink” Raises Over $30,000

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Checkers announced that their inaugural “Pink in the Rink” event on Feb. 11 raised more than $30,000 for the American Cancer Society, Carolina Breast Friends and Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation.

In front of a sellout crowd of 7,351, the Checkers wore special pink jerseys bearing the logos of the three organizations. The jerseys were auctioned immediately following the game raising more than $14,000 in less than 45 minutes.

The Checkers also donated $6 from every ticket sold through the team web site using a special promotion code, generating another $9,228 in donations. The team also donated an additional $3,000 from T-shirt and Chuck-A-Puck sales, fan donations and an appearance by Katie Hagar from Tex Motor Sports.
