Checkers Receive Cullen, Cuthbert,
Kozak From Wolf Pack

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Checkers announced that they have been assigned right wings Brandon Cullen and Rick Kozak and forward Ryan Cuthbert by the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League.

The Checkers are the ECHL affiliate of the Wolf Pack of the AHL and the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League.

Selected in the third round (95th overall) by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, the 6-foot-2 and 190-pound Kozak, who turned 20 in August, played the last three seasons in the Western Hockey League with Brandon, Kamloops and Prince Albert and had 432 penalty minutes and 65 points (37g-28a) in 143 regular season games and 21 points (13g-8a) and 121 penalty minutes in 13 playoff games.

The 23-year-old Cuthbert had 34 points (7g-27a) and 46 penalty minutes in 43 regular season games and five points (2g-3a) and 14 penalty minutes in 15 Kelly Cup Playoff games for Charlotte in 2004-05 while also playing in the AHL with Hartford where he had one assist and 12 penalty minutes in 14 games.
