CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Checkers announced that they have been assigned right wing Hugh Jessiman by the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League.
The Checkers are the ECHL affiliate of Hartford of the AHL and the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League.
Selected in the first round (12th overall) by the Rangers in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, the 21-year-old has two penalty minutes in seven games with Hartford.
The 6-foot-5 and 200-pound Jessiman played three seasons at Dartmouth College and had 82 points (40g-42a) and 137 penalty minutes in 80 games. He appeared in only 12 games in 2004-05 because of injury and had two points (1g-1a) and 18 penalty minutes. He tied for the team lead in 2003-04 with 16 goals and ranked second with 33 points while leading the team with 71 penalty minutes in 34 games. He was named ECAC Rookie of the Year in 2002-03 after leading Dartmouth with 23 goals and finishing second with 47 points in 34 games.
