Chiefs Acquire Schulz, Taylor

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Johnstown Chiefs announced that they have acquired defenseman David Schulz and center Max Taylor (pictured) from the Ontario Reign in exchange for defenseman Andrew Martens.

The Chiefs are the ECHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche and the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League and the Lake Erie Monsters and the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League.

The 22 year-old Schultz had 20 points (8g-12a) and 36 penalty minutes in 49 regular season games and two points (1g-1a) and two penalty minutes in six Kelly Cup Playoff games with Texas, while also recording two penalty minutes in one game with the Manitoba Moose in the American Hockey League in 2007-08.

Taylor, the Ottawa, Ontario native, had 45 points (25g-20a) and 51 penalty minutes in 59 regular season games and 11 points (5g-6a) and 10 penalty minutes in six Kelly Cup Playoff games with Texas, while also playing recording five points (2g-3a) and 28 penalty minutes in 13 regular season games with Toronto in the American Hockey League in 2007-08.
