Chiefs Staff Enjoys Success

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Johnstown Chiefs executive vice president and general manager, and former head coach, Toby O’Brien helped lead the USA National Under 17 Team win the Gold Medal at the Five Nations Cup, held in Switzerland from August 13-18.

O’Brien served as assistant coach of the USA National Team, who went 4-0-1 in the tournament and defeated the Czech Republic to win Gold.

“The chance to represent my country and to do it successfully was an experience I will never forget.” said O’Brien

The Chiefs also announced that Matt Bertani, who has served under O’Brien as a volunteer assistant, has been named assistant coach at Penn State University in the Division I American Collegiate Hockey Association.

Chiefs have also announced that Shane Clifford has been named goaltending coach of the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League. Clifford has been with Johnstown for the past six years starting out with the Junior Chiefs “Select” Program before serving as goaltending consultant and coach.
