Condors Beat San Diego 5-4

MIRA MESA, Calif. – Sean Venedam scored two power-play goals and Alexandre Bolduc scored on a penalty shot as the Bakersfield Condors beat the San Diego Gulls 5-4 in a preseason game at the San Diego Ice Arena on Sunday.

After San Diego took a 1-0 lead on a goal by David Svagrovsky at 1:14 of the first period, assisted by Nikita Korovkin, the Condors scored two goals in 10 minutes when Venedam scored his first power-play goal to tie the game and then Scott Balan scored with 1:35 left in the period for a 2-1 lead. The Gulls, however, tied it up 23 seconds later when Martin Mandeville scored a goal, assisted by Pierre-Luc Sleigher.

Bakersfield took a 3-2 lead on Venedam’s second power-play goal at 6:36 and two minutes later Bolduc scored on the penalty shot he was awarded after stealing the puck while the Condors were on the penalty kill. Bakersfield made it 5-2 when Kevin Kotyluk scored, assisted by L.P. Martin, at 11:04 of the second.
