BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors announced that the team will honor the 25th anniversary of the United States Hockey Team’s unlikely gold medal triumph at the 1980 Olympics by wearing replicas of the historic sweaters for its game against Alaska on Friday.
Five of the jerseys will be raffled off during the game with everyone in attendance eligible to win. Following the game at center ice, the jerseys will be auctioned off individually. Proceeds from the jersey auction will go to the Petroleum Shrine Club.
The Condors have raised more than $230,000 for charity with jersey auctions. The “Miracle” jerseys are sponsored by KGET-TV 17, the Big 96.5 and American Business Machines.
