Coyle and Hegarty join Greenville blue line
GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Greenville Road Warriors announced the team has signed defensemen Jace Coyle and Ryan Hegarty for the 2013-2014 season.
The Road Warriors are the ECHL affiliate of the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League and the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League.
Coyle tallied 28 points (8g-20a) in just 37 games with the Idaho Steelheads last season. His eight goals led all defenseman on the team during the regular season. Coyle also tallied six assists, best among Idaho defensemen, during the Kelly Cup Playoffs. The Cranbrook, British Columbia native has 58 AHL games under his belt with the Texas Stars, 10 of which were played last season. Prior to his professional career, Coyle, 23, played three years in the WHL with the Medicine Hat Tigers.
Hegarty was a fourth round selection (113th overall) by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. The Arlington, Mass. native played his first professional year last season with the Fort Wayne Komets, tallying nine points (3g-6a) and 60 penalty minutes in 57 games. Hegarty, 23, played four years of NCCA Division I hockey at the University of Maine from 2008-2012.
