Crane named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week


Chris Crane of the Allen Americans is the
Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Jan. 18-24.

Crane scored five goals and added three assists for eight points in four games last week.

The 24-year-old had three points (1g-2a) in a 4-3 overtime loss to Cincinnati on Monday, recorded two goals in a 4-3 win at Wichita on Friday, added another goal in a 3-1 victory at Wichita on Saturday and had two points (1g-1a) in a 5-4 win over the Thunder on Sunday.

A native of West Chester, Ohio, Crane has 17 points (11g-6a) in 23 games with the Americans this season. He has added two assists in nine games with San Jose of the American Hockey League.

A seventh-round selection (200th overall) by the San Jose Sharks in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Crane has 63 points (35g-28a) in 130 career ECHL games with Allen, Missouri, Ontario and San Francisco. He has nine points (1g-8a) in 32 career AHL games with San Jose and Worcester.

Prior to turning pro, Crane played three seasons at Ohio State University where he tallied 43 points (24g-19a) in 110 career games.

On behalf of Chris Crane, a case of pucks will be donated to an Allen youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 33,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
