Dallas Signs Former ECHL Defenseman Byrne

DALLAS – The Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League announced that they have signed former ECHL defenseman Trevor Byrne.

The Kelly Cup champion Idaho Steelheads are the ECHL affiliate of Dallas of the NHL and the Iowa Stars of the American Hockey League.

Selected in the fifth round (143rd overall) by St. Louis in the 1999 National Hockey Entry Draft, the 27 year old had 18 points (6g-12a) in 39 games with Peoria of the ECHL from 2003-05 and three assists in two games with Wheeling in 2005-06.

The 6-foot-4 and 207-pound Byrne played in the AHL in 2006-07 and had 14 points (1g-13a) and 46 penalty minutes in 35 regular season games with Hershey and six penalty minutes in nine regular season games and six points (2g-4a) and 18 penalty minutes in 15 playoff games with Chicago.
