South Carolina Stingrays coach Cail MacLean hovered over his computer most of Wednesday afternoon waiting to see what would happen in the National Hockey League.
The league’s trade deadline was Wednesday at 3 p.m., and the Washington Capitals, the Stingrays’ NHL affiliate, were one of the most active teams, acquiring four players and trading two, including a minor league prospect.
MacLean knows all about the trickle-down effect in the ECHL. If something happens — good or bad — with the parent club, chances are it’s going to directly or indirectly affect the Stingrays.
