Eagles bolster blue line with Young


WINDSOR, Colo. – The
Colorado Eagles announced that they have signed defenseman Kevin Young for the 2013-14 season.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound defenseman was named the Central Hockey League’s Most Outstanding Defenseman after posting 59 points (24g-35a) in 66 games with the Wichita Thunder during the 2012-13 campaign. Young added 17 points (4g-13a) in 15 games with the Thunder during the postseason.

A native of White Rock, British Columbia, Young has spent the bulk of his professional career overseas, with stops in Germany, France and the Netherlands, as well as one season in the EIHL. Prior to turning pro, the 31-year-old spent five seasons at the major junior level in the Western Hockey League and Ontario Hockey League before going on to play collegiately at the University of New Brunswick. Following his freshman season with the Varsity Reds in 2004, Young captured the Claire Drake Award as the CIS Rookie of the Year.
